O.A. Gruene son of Gruene founding Father H. Gruene built this Victorian brick home in 1924 when his house, located where the quilt shop now sits burnt to the ground. It was among the first brick homes in all of Comal County. Certainly one of the finest at the time. The Gruene family business at the time was the Grist Mill for Grinding, the mercantile store of sales to area farmers, and one of the largest cotton farms in the State of Texas.
At the time O.A. built his mansion, he decided to build something rather unheard of in the state of Texas. A full basement, which now houses our wine cellar and gift store. What is amazing about the cellar is it keeps a very constant temp all year round, cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
In the main house, each of our rooms is named for a member of the original Gruene family. Bessie who was Oma Gruene, O. A. the father, Henry, Bertha, Ernst and Henrietta.
When you enter the house in the foyer, there is a beautiful fireplace, and foyer, to the left you enter our Cappuccino and Coffee room serving fresh ground coffee and cappuccinos to our guest. While to the right is our sitting room where our guest enjoy just sitting and relaxing or watching our big Screen high definition television that

features movie channels as well as all the major sports channels including NFL Sunday Ticket. In the morning we serve homemade breakfast, and coffee and homemade Strudels, a treat you don't want to miss.
The O. A. Gruene mansion is a part of Texas history, and we would love to have you come and stay. Park your car and don't spend another dime on gas until you leave, as you walk to everything from tubing and rafting to late night entertainment at the Gruene hall. We will have the porch light on waiting for you all.
